What is Health Coaching?

What is Health Coaching?

Do you have ideas for improving your health that you have struggled to make happen? Are you reaching a point in your life where you foresee future health challenges if you don't make changes now? Have you received a diagnosis that requires changing habits and behaviors, and you don't know where to start? Or, are you simply looking to boost your overall wellness?

Health coaches partner with their clients to help them make sustainable, long-lasting changes to their health. As your coach, Elly will help you set goals and take action toward them one small step at a time.

A key tenet of her approach is placing you in the driver's seat. Whether you want to get into an exercise routine, eat better, quit smoking, reduce anxiety, improve your sleep, or find a greater sense of fulfillment and purpose, no one knows you like you. We will work together to make changes that fit the unique cadence of your daily life.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Coaching vs. Therapy

How is coaching different from therapy? Both offer opportunities for growth, habit change, and greater happiness. While there is overlap in techniques coaches and therapists use, generally speaking, therapy tends to focus on investigating and learning from the past, healing trauma, and changing deeply ingrained patterns of being. Coaching focuses more on the "present" and taking immediate action to change old habits and begin new habits that lead to better health and overall wellbeing.

Elly believes coaching can be a wonderful complement to therapy and encourages people considering coaching to look at both options to decide what might be best for them. She is also happy to talk over the two choices more during a discovery call.
